Located in an old train yard, TOWNSHIP is part of a repurposed entertainment district in downtown Tallahassee. The developer’s vision was to build a new structure that felt original to the Industrial Revolution. We envisioned new construction resembling an abandoned warehouse, and a “building inside a building”. The design intent was to create a communal space that encourages social interaction in a hyper-technological age. With 25’ ceilings in the center of the interior dining room, the perimeter is surrounded by garage doors that emulate a loading dock while functioning as inside/outside dining alongside a 5,000 square foot garden space. Township is the modern day beer hall with room for everyone expressed in the wall sized graphic, “For the Table, by the People.”
