What do you get when you combine an iconic 1950’s motor lodge with a 1980’s beach style resort? Boathouse chic with a nostalgic feel of an American beach vacation. With pristine beachfront in the Florida Keys, the challenge for the 14 cottages was to keep the historic bones alive and deliver a fresh island style. The transformation was accomplished using driftwood tile floors, rustic locally handcrafted furnishings, coastal-inspired artwork, whitewashed headboards combined with nautical accents with pops of navy, turquoise and sky blue. Hand-painted quotes from great American novelists on the walls welcome guests to the whimsical, retro vibe, complete with modern design classics.
